Designed for people who have/love the original EH MicroSynthesizer, Micro Square takes the Square Wave shaper, and Octave up generator from the classic EH MicroSynthesizer and places it in a supremely pedalboard friendly format, idiosyncrasies and all.
Along with the original Guitar voice, there is a custom tuned resonant low pass filter, providing a complete palette of tones for those that want the analog fatness without the huge footprint.
Derived from the original schematic of the "big box" vintage design, this sounds equally at home in a diverse range of settings, from grunge (Pumpkins) to modern blues (J. Mayer)
- Distills the Square Wave / Octave Up / Guitar blendable voice mix from the original vintage units into a small footprint.
- Switchable resonant peak multi-point feedback low pass filter provides an extra gain stage and allows the player to fine tune the tonal output.
- Features JRC4558D op amps and an LM13700 OTA chip essential for creating the classic square wave fuzz
- Pedalboard friendly, beautiful metallic clear flake finish powder coated enclosure, with top mounted connections, true bypass and standard 9v DC operation.
- Soldered, wired and assembled completely by hand in Manchester, UK
Players note: the “MicroSynth” has a circuit topology originating 50+ years ago and as such, given this is a significant large snippet of that circuit, carry over "features” (weirdness?!) exist…The effect kinda needs to be “played”, and responds differently to chords and single notes, as well as the frequency content and amplitude of the incoming signal. There is a ”triggering” element to the square wave which can cause volume fluctuation; these idiosyncratic behaviours are expected and some would say part of the charm of the vintage tones on tap.
Note: First batch is extremely limited. Once stock is exhausted, orders will switch to "pre-order" with a lead time of approximately 4 weeks. Given how close we are to Xmas, and the backlog of mail at Holiday Time, please anticipate a January 2026 delivery. Thankyou!
